This is the short story that starts this whole series of novels about the demon hunters, it can be found in Erotic Fantasy: Tales of the Paranormal, but I have added it to Keeper of my Soul for those who haven’t read it yet.Enjoy!
Asurul burrowed up from the soil. He could smell the lesser demons right behind him, using his energy to escape the bounds of Hell. The foul stench burned at his nose, but the beasts were inescapable. He burst up through the ground sending bellows of dirt and dust flying into the air. He took deep breaths filling his lungs with the pure, sweet smelling air of life. He felt the oozing around his legs as the lesser demons scurried out of the hole he made. He should rid this world of these beasts but he cared not of mortal man.
Asurul cleaned the rot, dirt and stench off himself at a nearby stream. Allowing himself a moment to enjoy the beauty of this mortal world. However, a moment was all he could spare.Lasax would surely drag him back to Hell if he didn’t complete his task.Or worse, Prolo would send one of his blasted Archangels to send him back. Either way it wasn’t an enjoyable event.
Asurul was one of the top Generals of Hell, recruiting new souls for Lasax to choose in Purgatory. He was chosen by Lasax and pulled from the grayness of Purgatory.Brief flashes of his own mortal life raced through Asurul’s mind; he was a General in this world too. His armies slaughtered thousands for mere power. Asurul knew he deserved Hell and the torment that came with it. The grayness and nothingness of Purgatory was too kind a fate for a man with so much blood on his soul.Lasax chose his Generals carefully, for he and Prolo were limited by the creator on the numbers they could have. Asurul was thankful his soul hadn’t become that of a lesser-demon. These slimy monsters that preyed on the living were truly, what Hell was meant to be. They were forced to crawl or slither to move, no resemblance to their mortal selves.
Asurul smelled a sweet, ambrosial smell; he lifted his nose to the air to hone in on where the smell was coming from. This smell he recognized. “Mmm, a guardian angel,” Asurul cooed.A guardian angel was the sweetest gift for Lasax; one that would earn Asurul much favor with his master.
With one high leap, Asurul vaulted onto the ceiling of the four-story building, here he could have a better vantage point. He squatted down not wanting a mortal to see him. His eyes scanned the area then stopped on the most beautiful woman his eyes had ever beheld. Her long golden hair floated gracefully in the air, seemingly blessed by the gentle wind. Her small frame barely covered by the light blue satiny dress as she crouched over a small girl. A light covered the two; no doubt some kind of shield. This is when Asurul spotted the two lesser-demons crawling toward them.
“What does she think she can do?” Asurul whispered.
“You will not harm this child!!” Isa screamed using all her energy to keep the barrier up. She sent out a distress call to Prolo, praying he would hear and send an Archangel to help her.
“You waste ssss your time, ssss pretty one,” the slimy creature hissed.
Isa pulled the child into her arms. The child was thankfully put to sleep, the only thing she could really do for the girl. “Away! Foul beast.” Isa backed away slowly.
“Ssss, flattery will get ssss you nowhere,” the other creature said this one even slimier than the other. The beasts slithered closer to her
“Please hurry Prolo!” Isa cried out. Her powers fading fast. She had not the strength to fight these beasts of Hell, though she would try. Her eyes looked everywhere for anything that might be used as a weapon.
“Prolo hears you, angel,” Asurul growled.More mad at himself for caring about the woman and girl, even more so at Prolo for not helping one of his own.Obviously, this woman held little value to Prolo.Asurul watched the light fade around the woman and the child.
Isa placed the little girl behind her and grabbed the largest fallen tree branch she could handle. “You will have to kill me first before you can have the child.”
“Ssss, by all means we shall.” The beasts slithered faster wanting to taste the flesh of an angel more than the sweetness of a child.
Isa gripped the branch tightly and prepared herself. She jumped back hearing a large thud on the ground behind her.A smell invaded her nose, a sweet intoxicating smell, the one Prolo warned all his guardian angels about.“Oh no, a General,” Isa thought as hope quickly began to fade. She was powerless against a General.
“I am Asurul and you will leave this place!” His voice boomed through the small wooded area.
“Ssss, the angel is ssss our prize,” both beasts said.
Isa gasped seeing the blades shoot out from Asurul’s hands.Pain and Punishment is what he affectionately called his hand blades. These blades materialized just by Asurul summoning them, a gift from Lasax. With lightening fast speed, Asurul descended upon the two slimy beasts and in a matter of seconds both were sliced up.
Isa gathered up the small child in her arms. She looked solemnly into the beautiful child’s face. “I am so sorry.” She cradled the child to her praying for a quick death for the little one.
“Leave, angel,” Asurul said as his blades disappeared.
“I will not let you have the child.”
“I don’t want the child, take her and leave.” Asurul watched the puzzled look come over Isa’s beautiful face.
“Thank you.” Isa held the child closer. “I am Isa,” she said quietly.
“It is fool-hearty to give a General your name.”
“And it is…well strange for a General to let a guardian angel go, Asurul.”
Asurul studied her for moment then leapt back into the air onto the building. He watched as she ran off with the child tightly in her arms.“Isa…”Her name played over and over in his mind as he continued to watch her until he lost sight of her.
ccc
Isa quietly sat by the stream, in this isolated place, she was certain no mortal would see her.She was so thankful that the child wasn’t harmed.Images of Asurul filled her mind. She was told that the Generals of Hell were beautiful, Lasax made sure of it. Beauty was deceptive to mortals.Asurul’s dark eyes, strong body and the way his long, dark hair played in the wind; flooded her thoughts.“I must not think of such things,” Isa scolded herself as images of her making love to the demon played in her mind.
Asurul watched Isa as she bathed in the stream. His eyes followed every soft curve of her body, focusing on her erect nipples. He could smell her arousal. He took deep breaths to breathe in the sweet smell. He should just capture the guardian angel and take her back to Lasax. However, something was stopping him. A strange, warm feeling engulfed him as he watched her bathe. His cock grew hard; his lust pulsed through his veins, his need for her growing with every moment.
Isa covered her breasts when the sweet smell enveloped her. “A General,” she whispered. Her eyes scanned everywhere. She quickly climbed out of the stream then froze her eyes unable to leave Asurul’s body as he walked over to her.
“You are a foolish angel,” his voice boomed.
“Perhaps,” was all she could say; her body more alive now than it ever had been when she was mortal. Her body beckoned him to take her.
Asurul growled then lunged for her. He scooped her naked body up into his arms and leapt into the air. Isa held on tightly as she looked down at the sheer distance he covered in one bounce.
He landed up on a mountain cliff; he still had her firmly in his arms as he walked into the small cave.“There will be no turning back once I take you.” Asurul surprised by the words that left his mouth. In all the centuries he had been a General he took what he wanted, corrupting young maiden’s souls without so much a thought other than that of his own pleasures. Now, when he was about to corrupt the incorruptible; he offered her a way out, even as his body burned for her.
“I know what I do,” she whispered, leaning her head against his shoulder. Something about this demon, no man, was different, strange and yet: so wonderful, she couldn’t even begin to reason why she was about to let him have her.She would lose her soul and yet she cared not. She needed his body against hers, needed to feel him deep inside her.
“Your soul would be lost.” Asurul gently sat her down. He removed his overcoat and laid it on the soft dirt of the cave.
“I know the consequence of my actions.” Her hand timidly touched the strong muscles of his right upper arm, his skin so soft, yet hard at the same time. Her lips followed the path her fingertips made.
“You will be willing to lose your soul to make love to me…” Asurul couldn’t speak as Isa gently kissed his lips. Her tenderness was unlike anything he had ever known. He pulled her into his arms and deepened the kiss. He groaned feeling her melt into his embrace. Her hands explored every muscle of his back.
He broke free of their fiery embrace and slowly pulled his shirt off then took his pants off his eyes never leaving hers. He shuddered when she took his cock into her hands and gently stroked. He leaned his head back and enjoyed the tenderness of her hands for a moment. He scooped her up into his arms and laid her down onto his overcoat. His kisses were hot and urgent as he climbed on top of her. Slowly he entered her. Her pussy was like a velvet glove, fitting him perfectly. He held his passionate kiss as he slowly thrusts into her. Her hands stroked his back, her kiss as hungry and urgent as his. Her quiet moans urged him on as he went deeper into her.
“Asurul,” she whispered against his lips. This one simple little gesture caused his orgasm to hit him hard. He arched up and roared as the pleasure over took him. He could hear her pleasure as he thrust a few more times spilling his seed into her.
He rolled off her and pulled her to him, needing the warmth of her body next to him. “Isa,” was all he said as he gently stroked her hair. He wouldn’t let Lasax take her soul or let Prolo punish her. He would fight Heaven and Hell to have more moments like this one.

“Asurul has corrupted one of my guardian angels!” Prolo shouted, rattling all of Heaven. He hated when Lasax’s Generals captured one of his.Prolo was a golden haired, angelic looking man. Though he wielded the power of Heaven, his looks gave him a soft warm look; he being the fairest among all men.“Tamos!!” he yelled.
“Yes Master,” Tamos answered.Tamos was the highest ranking of all of Prolo’s Archangels and therefore the most trusted. His dark hair and green eyes made him the favored among the female angels.
“I want you to bring some helpers with you and capture this Asurul.” Prolo paced back and forth. He would take Lasax’s prize General perhaps spinning a deal with the Creator for Isa’s soul. Not that he needed Isa all that much but he would be damned if he let Lasax have one of his angels.
“I will not fail you master.” Tamos took to the air.
ccc
Lasax growled and squished the lesser demon under his foot. He was elated that Asurul had corrupted the angel, but when Asurul refused to bring in his prize, he became enraged.
“You called Master.”
“Ah, Syn I have a job for you.” Lasax smiled at his number two General. Unlike Asurul, Syn relished his job.Syn was like a chameleon, he could change his appearance to suit the taste of the person he was trying to seduce. He had chosen dark hair and eyes to greet his master, for this is how Lasax preferred him.
“Anything.”
“Go up to the surface and drag Asurul’s ass back down here. Kill the angel he is with. I don’t want this prize anymore.”
“I will leave immediately.” Syn smiled devilishly for he hated Asurul more than anything else.
ccc
Asurul held Isa gently in his arms. They had stayed in the little cave and made love repeatedly, each time more beautiful than the last.Asurul wished he could stay here in her arms forever. Never had he known such peace.
“Asurul,” Isa whispered running her fingers over his full lips. She had known love in her mortal life, but not like this. It consumed her so quickly that it must be a dream.
“I must hide you.” Asurul pulled her close to him.
“There is no where to hide from Prolo.” She snuggled down onto his chest and held him tighter. “It matters not.”
“Yes it does!” Asurul sat up taking her with him. “You are now damned to Hell. I will bargain with Prolo for your soul.”
“Asurul.” Isa looked up into his eyes. “Let me be damned.” She ran her hands softly over his cheek. “I want to be with you.”
“But…” Asurul knew not what to say.
“If we can be together in Hell, I will endure it.”
Asurul kissed her softly then held her tightly in his arms. “You will not survive Hell.” Asurul closed his eyes and started to plan on what to say to Prolo. Isa would become a lesser-demon and he wouldn’t let that happen to her. He was sure that Prolo would send him back to Purgatory; he would endure the grayness and bleakness if it meant that Isa would be spared her fate.
“Get dressed.” Asurul bolted up. He could since the presence of another General. Lasax wasted no time.
“My clothes are by the stream,” Isa said
Asurul handed her his black shirt as he pulled on his pants. “Stay here Isa.”
“No, I will come with you.”
“Please, I will not be able to fight with you there.” Asurul kissed her lightly on the lips and then bolted from the cave.Isa sat down in the back of the cave and hoped Asurul would return.
A strange, warm light flooded the opening of the cave causing Isa to stand up. “Tamos,” she whispered, seeing the beautiful male enter the cave.
“What have you done Isa?” His voice sounded like a sweet melody making it impossible to ignore him.
“Please help Asurul, Tamos…I beg you.”
“I am here to kill the demon, Isa.” Tamos looked out across the forest. “But I sense there is another General here.” He walked closer to her. “Prolo would like to speak with you immediately. You must come with me.” He scooped her up into his powerful arms then ran out of the cave, leapt into the air and took flight. Isa held on to him tightly as he soared higher into the sky.
ccc
Asurul could smell Syn as he leapt on top of the building. He had to be careful for Syn could change his looks quickly. “I know you are here, Syn!” Asurul shouted. He wanted to take down Syn and hurry back to Isa as soon as possible.
“Ummm, had you some angel pussy.” Syn’s voice was velvety and deep.
“Show yourself, you snake.” Asurul scanned everywhere. His hand blades emerged from his hands as he ready for battle.
“Those are cool toys you have there Asurul.”
Asurul heard the metallic sound of a sword being unsheathed.
“But my toy is bigger.” Syn chuckled.
Asurul quickly moved out of the way when he heard the whooshing sound of the sword cutting through the air. “Hmm, agile aren’t we,” Syn commented.
Asurul leapt into the air so he could view the entire battlefield. When he reached the peak of his jump, he felt something heavy slam into his body, forcing him back to the ground. The impact knocked the wind out of him.
“I know that trick.” Syn hissed as he jumped from Asurul.
Asurul quickly came to his feet even though he was dizzy. He closed his eyes and focused on using his other senses. Syn’s scent invaded his nostrils; the sound of his breathing boomed in his ears.Asurul quickly spun around as he extended his arms. He felt his hand blades tear through flesh. Syn’s screech rang out.
Asurul opened his eyes and saw Syn laying on the ground, blood pouring out from the slice in his belly. He should finish the tiresome demon off but he had to get back to Isa. Lasax would surely punish Syn for failing. “Give my regards to Lasax,” Asurul said as he leapt into the air.

Asurul entered the cave eager for Isa’s touch. First, he would have to move them somewhere else. Lasax was sure to send other Generals. “Isa it is alright to come out.”He moved to the back of the cave. “Isa.” He breathed in the air trying to pick up her scent. He rushed to the front of the cave and scanned the nearby forest. “Isa!!” he cried out.
“She is with Prolo.”
Asurul’s blades came out of his hands as he spun around.A large, dark-haired man stood at the other end of the cave entrance. A long spear appeared in his hands. “You will pay for corrupting one of Prolo’s angels,”Tamos growled.
Asurul let the hand blades disappear and just held out his hands as a gesture of surrender.
“I won’t fall for your trick demon.”
“No trick, angel. Do with me as you will.” Asurul still held out his hands. Tamos charged at him tying his hands behind his back. The metal chains were unbreakable. Asurul was now his prisoner.
ccc
The light almost blinded Asurul as they entered the realm of Heaven. Tamos quickly blinded him so he couldn’t see the beauty of this realm. To him, Asurul didn’t deserve to see Heaven’s splendor.
Tamos threw Asurul to the ground. “So you are Lasax’s General.” Prolo looked down at him.
“Where is Isa?” Asurul grunted when Tamos kicked him.
“You dare to speak to Prolo!” Tamos hissed.
“Isa!!” Asurul cried out. His vision had slowly begun to return. The room was rather plain looking, though he suspected Prolo had done this on purpose. His eyes met with Prolo’s. This man’s beauty was beyond words. Asurul could sense the power of this man.
‘You will be going back to Hell. I am sure Lasax will hand out a better punishment than I ever could. Purgatory is too kind for you,” Prolo hissed.
Asurul braced himself for whatever pain Prolo was going to give him. “Asurul!!” His head shot up hearing Isa’s sweet voice.
“You dare enter here!” Prolo boomed.
Isa raced to Asurul and threw herself on him. She reached down and unhooked the metal chains.
“What are you doing?!” Tamos yelled, his spear appearing in his hands.
“You do not deserve my mercy woman. Get off him!” Prolo was growing angrier by the moment.
“You will not touch her!” Asurul quickly stood up and placed Isa behind him as his blades shot out from his hands.
Prolo started to laugh. “Do you honestly believe you can challenge me?”
Asurul’s eyes darted everywhere as the room began to fill up with Prolo’s legions of Archangels.
“You will not harm her!” Asurul growled. He would go straight for Prolo; he readied himself.
“Kill them both,” Prolo hissed.
A brilliant light raced through the room knocking everyone to the ground. Asurul covered Isa with his body, hoping he would take the brunt of Prolo’s anger. When nothing happened, Asurul slowly looked up and saw all the Archangels on their knees as well as Prolo.A lighted form stood in the middle of the room. Asurul couldn’t make out if this being was either male or female.
“The Creator,” Isa whispered then quickly came up to her knees.
No harm shall come to Asurul or Isa.A strange voice flooded their minds.
“But Creator this demon corrupted my angel,” Prolo quietly said his eyes to the ground.
Loved your angel, Prolo, not corrupted her. Asurul knew certain punishment would happen and yet he came willingly to protect Isa and she did the same.
“Creator…” Prolo paused not knowing what to say.
Asurul and Isa, I will grant you one chance to prove your love for one another. I will send you to Earth as mortals. If your love lasts, I will create a paradise for you to share forever. If you fail however, then both of you will go to Hell and serve out eternity as lesser-demons with no chance of redemption.
“No I will not risk Isa’s soul. Give me the punishment and spare her,” Asurul said.
“I will prove my love for Asurul, Creator. Thank you for your kindness,” Isa added.
“No, Isa…” Asurul turned to her.
“I love you Asurul. I will not fail our love.” Isa gently stroked his cheek.
Then it is my decreed that Isa and Asurul will live as mortals. Prolo and Lasax you will leave them in peace. However, Asurul since you doubted Isa’s love for you…
“I never doubted. I just wanted to protect her.” Asurul felt a sharp pain race through his body.
“Please Asurul be silent,” Isa said as she helped him up.
Since you doubted Asurul, your son will be punished.
“My son?”
You and Isa will have a son. He will be more beautiful than Prolo and have the strength of Lasax. But, he will have to find a woman that loves him for the beauty inside not what is on the outside. Until he does, he will live on Earth and suffer the pain of a love lost.
“Please Creator give me the punishment,” Asurul pleaded. “How will I protect him? You said me and Isa are not to be touched but what about him?”
Since Isa believes so strongly in your love. I will grant her the power to let her son sleep between failed attempts to lessen his pain. I will also grant you warriors to protect him while he sleeps. Asurul, you will train these warriors.
“But Creator these warriors will have souls will they not. How can their souls find peace?” Isa quietly asked.
Your compassion warms me Isa. The warriors Asurul chooses will be freed when your son is or when they have found their soul mate.
“Thank you Creator.”
ccc
Asurul kissed Isa lightly on the head as he looked down into the face of his newborn son. “Ayden,” he warmly said.
“It is a perfect name.” Isa smiled up at him.
“We will give him everything and make him strong.” Asurul gathered his son up in his arms. This child was part of him and Isa, something their love made. “My son,” he whispered kissing the little infant on the forehead.
Isa smiled watching Asurul with Ayden. Everyday on earth with Asurul was a blessing; their love grew stronger and deeper. She knew they would pass the Creator’s test. She only hoped that Ayden would find such a love, that he would know the happiness and the completion this kind of love gives.
“I love you Isa.” Asurul’s kiss brought her back from her thoughts.
“I love you Asurul. Now give me our son back.” She smiled up at him as he placed Ayden back into her arms.
